Rebecca Carey is an EDC Vice President and Chief of Staff. A skilled project leader, she managed complex EDC federal R&D centers and large-scale technical assistance initiatives for many years. She has expertise in nonprofit leadership and operations, business development, organization development, and educational innovation and improvement.

As a member of EDC’s Senior Leadership Team, Rebecca works closely with EDC’s President/CEO and teams throughout EDC to strengthen systems and guide strategic planning in service of EDC’s mission. For seven years, she served as the associate director of EDC’s U.S. Division. Previously, she held several roles for the REL Northeast & Islands at EDC, including Deputy Director and Technical Advisor. To this work, she applied her experience in research design, technical assistance, and knowledge use to advance leaders’ goals to enhance student outcomes.

Drawing on her research and quality improvement expertise, Rebecca has co-authored a series of publications focused on strategies to enhance education through evidence-based practices, research-practitioner partnerships, and online learning. Recently, she co-authored the white paper Scaling-Up Evidence-Based Practices: Strategies from Investing in Innovation (i3).

Rebecca received an EdM from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a BA from Vassar College.
