Nicole Breslow is a strategic education leader, researcher, and former educator. For 20 years, she has helped states and districts strengthen systems and practices that improve teaching, learning, and leadership. She specializes in translating complex policy and implementation research into clear strategies to advance improvement. She brings deep expertise in continuous improvement, professional learning, technical assistance, implementation science, and data-informed decision-making. She partners with education leaders to build organizational capacity, use evidence more effectively, and drive lasting improvement in student outcomes.
Nicole is the deputy director of the REL Northeast & Islands at EDC. She has advanced multiple initiatives, including co-leading a Professional Learning and Development Research Alliance and co-authoring Evaluating Professional Learning: A Tool for Schools and Districts. She also directs EDC’s Quality Measures Center and served as director of EDC’s Region 2 Comprehensive Center collaborative work with WestEd and as a project lead for the Region 1 Comprehensive Center.
Nicole contributed to EDC’s evaluation of a LEGO Foundation initiative and co-authored a series of related publications, including The Edtech Design Toolkit: A Human-Centered, Collaborative Approach to Sustainable Innovation, Lessons Learned from the Tech & Play Initiative, and several briefs. Before joining EDC, she was the director of teaching and learning at Teach For America and taught fourth grade in East Harlem.
Nicole holds an MEd in School Leadership from Harvard University, an MEd in Elementary Teaching from Hunter College, and a BS in Cognitive Science from Brown University.
