
Mary Beth Piecham
Mary Beth Piecham is an education researcher who advances knowledge of strategies to improve mathematics education for K–12 students. She has significant experience leading large-scale studies and expertise in qualitative and mixed-methods analyses, establishing partnerships with school districts, data collection, and data management.
Piecham is a lead researcher on the Supporting Success in Algebra study and is the co-author of the chapter, “Lessons Learned from a Multi-Site Study of an Algebra Support Curriculum” published in Lessons Learned from Research on Mathematics Curriculum. Previously, she played a lead role in projects examining the impact and implementation of curriculum, teacher professional development, and student-centered practices through an evaluation of a Nellie Mae Education Foundation initiative.
Before joining EDC, Piecham was a communications professional for eight years. Her work included leading outreach for a PBS global health multimedia project and child survival campaign. She also served as public relations executive, third-grade teacher assistant, and afterschool tutor.
Piecham holds an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Massachusetts-Boston and a BA in Public Relations from North Carolina State University.
