Experts Share Impacts of the High Touch High Tech Approach to Learning
The Learning Generation Initiative at EDC and Fab AI recently co-hosted a global virtual event that presented evidence on the positive impacts of the High Touch High Tech approach in three countries. A recording of the event has just been released on our YouTube channel.
High Touch High Tech blends teacher professional development, effective instruction, and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered adaptive technology to enable personalized, data-informed learning at a large scale. In Cambodia, the Philippines, Uruguay, and Vietnam, rigorous evaluations have found that implementation of High Touch High Tech consistently demonstrates significant improvements in student learning outcomes.
Moderated by Amy Bellinger, Director of the Learning Generation Initiative at EDC, the virtual event featured discussions of High Touch High Tech evaluation findings, insights from implementers, and implications for scaling effective approaches.
Professor Ju-Ho Lee, Former Acting President and Acting Prime Minister of South Korea, delivered the event’s keynote address. In his remarks, Professor Lee shared lessons learned from implementing High Touch High Tech in Korea and reflected on the importance of the approach for teachers and learners around the world.

In the High Touch High Tech approach, teachers participate in intensive professional learning and use real-time learning data to identify where students are struggling; provide targeted individual and small-group support; and adapt lesson plans. Across countries, High Touch High Tech has demonstrated statistically significant gains in mathematics achievement, often doubling learning progress compared to control groups and accelerating learning outcomes for students who are struggling the most.
