EDC to Continue Leadership of Innovative Biotech Education Program
Amgen Foundation Renews Multimillion-Dollar Commitment to Amgen Biotech Experience
Education Development Center (EDC) joins the Amgen Foundation in celebrating more than $75 million in total support for Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE), including a new $13.4 million commitment to EDC that will extend the program through the 2027–2028 school year. The renewed funding will help educators around the world continue to bring hands-on biotech learning into their classrooms.
Since 1990, ABE has reached over 1.25 million students across 27 sites in 17 countries and now serves approximately 100,000 students annually. As ABE’s Program Office, EDC works closely with the Amgen Foundation and a global network of partners to support participating educators with curriculum, professional development, research-grade equipment and laboratory supplies provided at no cost to schools.
“The ABE program is truly remarkable,” says Rebecca Lewis, STEM education and workforce development expert who leads EDC’s ABE Program Office team. “It inspires both students and teachers, advances excellence in science education, and builds scientific literacy. We are thrilled to continue our work with Amgen Foundation on this impactful initiative that is helping prepare our next generation of innovators.”
