Early Childhood Education

Around the world, far too many children are at risk of not achieving their full potential because of extreme poverty, violence, isolation, or neglect. Despite these challenges, every child has the potential to flourish.

EDC leads the way in harnessing innovative, cost-effective strategies to level the playing field for all children. We design, study, support and scale up programs that enhance school readiness and success.

EDC’s early learning programs have served over 100 million learners and hundreds of thousands of educators in 25 countries.

Your gift advances our work to provide a fair start to every child.

Substance Misuse Prevention

The impact of substance misuse and addiction is deadly. And the costs, both emotional and financial, are staggering.

EDC is committed to building a strong, well-prepared prevention workforce able to address this complex problem. We help communities incorporate effective substance misuse prevention strategies into home visiting programs, after-school settings, and health systems, and we develop trainings that address urgent and emergent trends in substance misuse across the lifespan.

EDC has worked with over 75,000 practitioners, policymakers, and other professionals to implement effective prevention strategies.

Your donation supports our work to break the cycle of substance misuse in families and communities and across our nation.

Suicide Prevention

Around the globe, families are losing loved ones, workplaces are losing talented employees, and communities are losing valued members. They are dying from something that is preventable—suicide.

The U.S. suicide rate has been steadily rising for two decades. No one should be alone while they hurt or suffer in silence for fear of stigma, judgement, or discrimination. From clinics to communities, EDC brings proven leadership and expertise to suicide prevention and safer suicide care.

EDC’s Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk training program has trained over 60,000 mental health professionals in suicide care practices.

Your support helps us make the vision of a world free from suicide a reality.

Workforce Development

Around the world, youth struggle with poverty, a lack of education, and insufficient job skills. They are losing out—as are their families and communities.

EDC designs and develops new strategies and new systems to prepare youth for the fast-changing world of opportunity. Our programs provide young people with job skills, entrepreneurship training, and ongoing career learning.

EDC has reached more than 1 million youth worldwide with its skills training, connections, and resources.

Your gift furthers EDC’s efforts to equip youth to fully participate in the workforce.
