EDC Talks: Improving Education in Conflict and Crisis Zones
Take a trip to northern Mali, where EDC is helping to deliver education to thousands of young people.
Around the world, 1 in 6 children live in communities affected by conflict and crisis. Education for these young learners is often interrupted or sporadic, meaning that many miss out on critical years of their education, thereby imperiling their future.
Accelerated education programs are one way in which EDC is offering a second chance at an education for children and youth whose schooling has been affected by conflict and crisis.
“We work with kids to master the same amount of material, in a shorter period of time, in a more flexible way,” says EDC’s Cornelia Janke.
In this video, Janke discusses how EDC’s support of accelerated education in northern Mali is helping young learners develop the academic, social, and emotional skills they need to succeed.
