In a rapidly changing, technology-focused world, few academic subjects offer more potential for impact and innovation than computer science (CS). 

EDC partners with educators, STEM industry leaders, and policymakers to ensure students receive high-quality CS education opportunities. We create leading-edge CS curricula, help states align with private sector STEM partners, and center our efforts on increasing participation in the field. We also advance knowledge of how to foster computational thinking, evaluate promising programs, and scale innovative programs.

Beauty and Joy of Computing

The Beauty and Joy of Computing curriculum was designed as an Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles course to introduce more NYC public high schools to high-quality computer science courses.

EDC Data Science (formerly Oceans of Data Institute)

This portfolio of data science initiatives continue to transform pre-K–16 education by supporting educators in integrating data literacy instruction into classrooms; working with community colleges, big data industry experts, and career and technical educators to create pathways to data careers; leading convenings; and publishing curricula and research.

Integrating AI Literacy into Community College Programs

This project works to increase the AI literacy and skills of students in two-year community colleges, as part of a collaboration with 5 community colleges across the U.S.

Developing Guidelines for Neurodiversity-Affirming Engineering Programs in Museums and Science Centers

This project will work to design and test guidelines that seek to foster a sense of belonging for neurodivergent individuals by prioritizing their full inclusion in informal learning spaces and by framing different ways of thinking as being inherently valuable to engineering and to society.
