Rural STEM
EDC is improving educational opportunities for students in rural and remote communities.

Despite the efforts of dedicated educators, many rural students do not gain the STEM knowledge and employability skills they need to thrive in an increasingly technology-centered world of work.
Working closely with rural educators, school administrators, community leaders, and families, EDC creates pathways to careers for rural youth. Together, we provide rural learners with outstanding opportunities in STEM education that ensure they are ready to thrive in the workforce. Our researchers advance knowledge of effective strategies to support rural learners and have contributed to a National Rural Education Research Agenda. Drawing on place-based learning and the thoughtful use of technology, our instructional designers expand access to high-quality STEM experiences at home, in school, and through informal learning programs.
