Join EDC at the 2026 Africa Social Impact Summit
Partnering to achieve better and more sustainable futures for all
EDC experts Steve Kamanzi, Rachel Christina, and Olawale Samuel will share effective strategies to build a strong green and blue workforce and strengthen foundational education at the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) in Lagos, Nigeria on July 22 to 24. The theme of this year’s summit is “Financing for Development: Building Resilience, and Transforming Emerging Economies.”
The Sterling One Foundation and United Nations (UN) Nigeria co-lead ASIS. Each year, the convening engages over 2,000 business, policy, investment, and sustainability leaders in sharing solutions to co-create a new economic future for Africa. A key focus is collaboratively planning actions to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, EDC is honored to be an ASIS Technical Partner alongside Association for the Development of Education in Africa, Microsoft, The Nigerian Economic Summit Group, United Nations Development Programme, Teach for Nigeria, Alternative Bank, Impact Investors Foundation, and other leading organizations (view all ASIS partners).
At ASIS, EDC will share its Ready Right Now foundational education package, including our innovative Start Right Now program for early childhood development and education. Our team will also lead an expert panel that closely aligns with the summit theme and will be held immediately after the ASIS Opening Ceremony. A brief description follows:
Wednesday, July 22 (4:00 WAT)—“From Skills to Sustainable Growth: Building Nigeria’s Green and Blue Economy Workforce”

Distinguished Panelists from the Following Organizations: National Senior Secondary Education Commission; Lagos State Government; National Council of Colleges of Education; Kickoff Africa; Qoray; The Alternative Bank
This session will be grounded in national Nigerian priorities. These include the goal to train 5 million youth by 2030, as well as broader efforts under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative to strengthen STEMM, expand TVET, and improve access and quality across the skills ecosystem. Government leaders, private sector leaders, and development partners will discuss challenges and align on a shared agenda to build a future-ready workforce. A key focus will be how high demand for green and blue economy skills can drive inclusive growth and climate resilience, while advancing efforts to modernize technical education, strengthen data-driven systems, and ensure quality and relevance of training.
Our team hopes to see you at our session or elsewhere at ASIS 2026. If you’d like to meet with EDC at ASIS, contact Rachel Christina and Olawale Samuel to schedule a time to connect.
We invite you to learn about EDC’s work focused on crisis-affected contexts, youth and workforce development, and early childhood development and learning.
