Paul B. Hofmann is president of the Hofmann Healthcare Group and has worked in the health care field for more than 40 years, principally as a hospital executive. For the past 15 years, he has devoted most of his time to working on ethical issues and assisting hospitals and health systems with accelerating their performance improvement efforts. He also serves as an adviser to health care companies and as an expert witness.
The author of more than 175 publications, Paul has held faculty appointments at Harvard, UCLA, Stanford, Emory, Seton Hall, and the University of California. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), a past member of its Leadership Advisory Committee, and coordinator of its annual ethics conference for 19 years.
Paul is board chair of the San Francisco-based Operation Access and on the board of the Alliance for Global Clinical Training. In 2009, he received the American Hospital Association’s Award of Honor for his “central role in shaping the field’s understanding of health care ethics.”
Paul holds a BS, an MPH, and a DrPH from the University of California, Berkeley.
