A Study of the WRN! Credential’s Relationship to Youth Jobs and Employer Satisfaction

EDC conducted a study to examine employment outcomes and employer satisfaction levels for a cohort of youth who had graduated from the USAID-funded Akazi Kanoze program, an EDC workforce development initiative in Rwanda. The study provided insights into the linkages between the scores on the EDC-developed Work Ready Now! (WRN!) test, which was used in Akazi Kanoze, and graduates’ preparedness for work. One hundred and thirteen youth participated in this study.

Key Findings

  • Youth who passed the WRN! test had higher rates of full-time employment, whereas youth who failed the test reported higher rates of self-employment and family employment.
  • The majority of employers rated Akazi Kanoze youth as performing better than their work counterparts.
