Christine Filosa, JD, is a vice president, the corporate secretary, and the general counsel of EDC. She provides sound legal advice about laws and regulations governing EDC, corporate registration in the United States and abroad, labor and employment matters, immigration and work authorization matters, and new business ventures to all the programmatic and administrative divisions at EDC. She is also responsible for managing outside counsel on all matters and managing and supervising internal investigations.
As general counsel, Filosa is responsible for managing several critical initiatives at EDC, including EDC’s Code of Conduct, Conflicts of Interest and Commitment, and EDC’s Whistleblower program, including training, enforcement, and investigations. Additionally, she oversees EDC’s risk management program, including managing EDC’s corporate insurance portfolio, liability issues and insurance claims, and all intellectual property matters, including copyrights and trademarks. In her corporate secretary role, Christine provides advice and support to EDC's Board of Trustees, ensuring compliance with EDC's governance matters.
Before joining EDC, Filosa was an associate with Peabody & Arnold, LLP, in Boston, focusing on corporate and employment law. Prior to that, she clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Joseph P. Warner at the Massachusetts Appeals Court. While attending law school, she worked as an investigator for the Office of the Bar Counsel, Board of Bar Overseers of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.
Filosa is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, Humentum, and the New England Labor Council. She holds a BA from Simmons College and a JD from Suffolk University Law School.
