Cynthia King Vance, a senior executive and board leader, has extensive expertise in education, health care, and media where she has advised and led innovation and strategic initiatives in complex organizations. Cynthia is passionate about developing people and teams to achieve results.
During the 2023-24 academic year, Cynthia served as deputy to the interim president of Hunter College. Previous experience in education include projects to improve urban public education and student success for the New York City Department of Education, the Newark (NJ) Public Schools, and the City University of New York (CUNY). She created and teaches the Entrepreneurship course at Hunter College and served as a mentor at the Harvard Innovation Lab, CUNY Startups, and the StartEd incubator.
In 2022, Cynthia served as the interim CEO for New York Public Radio (NYPR), the largest public radio organization in the country, where she had also been a trustee and a board chair. Additionally, Cynthia was CFO and oversaw business development for UK Gold Broadcasting, a BBC entity.
Cynthia has served in leadership positions on other nonprofit boards, including Read to Lead, Montefiore Health System, REDS (pre-K) and SCO. She served on the advisory boards of the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton and the Clayman Center for Gender Studies at Stanford. She was a non-executive director at the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust in London. Earlier in her career, Cynthia was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and an investment banking analyst with Kidder, Peabody & Co.
Cynthia holds a BA from the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
