Daniel Lavan is a researcher and evaluator with interests in education, child rights, and child work, particularly in Africa. Lavan serves as a senior monitoring and evaluation advisor with EDC’s International Development Division (IDD) and as a measurement specialist for USAID’s Education in Conflict and Crisis Network. He leads early-grade reading assessments in the field and provides technical leadership across IDD on evaluation and research design, project logic models and monitoring systems, and data collection instruments, including for measurement of non-cognitive skills and institutional capacity. Lavan regularly represents EDC at conferences and donor events and is active in IDD’s gender working group.
Lavan has full working proficiency in French. He holds a PhD in Organizational Studies in Education from the University of Ottawa.
