Daniel Lavan
Daniel Lavan is a researcher and evaluator with interests in education, child rights, and child work, particularly in Africa. Daniel serves as EDC’s Director of international Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL). He leads early-grade reading assessments in the field and provides technical leadership on evaluation and research design, project logic models and monitoring systems, and data collection instruments, including for measurement of non-cognitive skills and institutional capacity. Daniel regularly represents EDC at conferences and donor events and is active in the international gender working group.
Daniel holds a PhD in Organizational Studies in Education from the University of Ottawa. He has full working proficiency in French.
