Ellyson Stout, a public health expert and senior manager, specializes in suicide prevention, social marketing, and health promotion with diverse populations. In her role directing EDC’s Suicide Prevention Resource Center contract, she draws on her expertise in strategic communications, implementation science, and state suicide prevention policy to reduce suicide deaths and attempts across the United States.

Stout leads a team of subject matter experts in providing support and building capacity and infrastructure to advance the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. She presents frequently on suicide prevention, gave the keynote address at a recent Suicide Prevention Summit, and has co-authored articles published in the Journal of Primary Prevention and the Journal of Rural Mental Health.

Stout has over 20 years of experience in public health and culturally appropriate communications. Before joining EDC, she worked domestically and internationally in HIV/AIDS prevention and maternal and child health, as well as with immigrant and refugee health programs.

Stout holds an MS in Health Communication from Tufts University School of Medicine and is an Albert Schweitzer Fellow.
