Hai Lun Tan, research associate, has expertise in conducting historical research, mixed-methods research, classroom teaching, and project coordination. She is particularly interested in social justice education and educational equity practices as they relate to technology, children’s learning, and English language learners.

A member of EDC’s Center for Children and Technology (CCT), Tan is currently working on an Institute of Education Sciences collaborative research project to examine the impact of a suite of interactive history games on middle-school students. Before joining EDC, Tan taught sixth-grade English language arts and helped launch a new after-school tutoring program focused on literacy for under-resourced students in San Francisco.

Tan holds an MA and MSc in International History from Columbia University and the London School of Economics respectively.
