Hai Lun Tan, research associate, has expertise in conducting historical research, mixed-methods research, classroom teaching, and project coordination. She is particularly interested in advancing knowledge of effective strategies to promote literacy, support teachers in using technology to enhance students’ learning outcomes, and improve early learning and school readiness.

A member of EDC’s Center for Children and Technology (CCT), Tan is currently working on an Institute of Education Sciences collaborative research project to examine the impact of a suite of interactive history games on middle-school students. Before joining EDC, Tan taught sixth-grade English language arts and helped launch a new after-school tutoring program focused on literacy for students in San Francisco.

Tan holds an MA and MSc in International History from Columbia University and the London School of Economics respectively.
