Hanna Girma Wedajo, EDC senior research associate, specializes in qualitative research, policy analysis, program evaluation, and research communications. Wedajo brings expertise drawn from her work on a range of education research projects that focused on children’s education, educational quality improvement, and youth’s aspirations.

Currently, Wedajo is collaborating with partners in Kenya, Rwanda, and Brazil to carry out a LEGO Foundation-funded initiative, the Scaling Learning through Play with Technology Research Collaborative. She co-leads the qualitative research design, implementation, analysis, and reporting process. Wedajo also co-led the qualitative analysis of the Sesame Workshop’s Coming Together Evaluation that focused on children’s development of a positive identity through media and digital content.

Before joining EDC, Wedajo worked as an education researcher for UNICEF – Global Office of Research and Foresight.

Wedajo holds a PhD in Comparative and International Education from the University of Minnesota and an MA in Human Rights from Addis Ababa University. She received her LLB in Law from Dire Dawa University. She is fluent in English and Amharic.
