
Lucy Nelson
Lucy Nelson, EDC research associate, is an experienced educational technology researcher. She brings expertise in research project facilitation and monitoring, data management, external communication, and qualitative data analysis. She specializes in forming productive relationships with study participants through effective outreach, engagement, and communication strategies. Her research focus is the use of media and digital resources to improve early childhood education, at-home learning, and school readiness.
Nelson has designed, implemented, and managed studies that rely on text messaging to communicate with large numbers of study participants and increase study engagement. She conducts research for EDC’s evaluation of Ready to Learn and is a co-author of the report Listen to This!. Previously, she worked on Tools to Support Preschool Teachers, a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded project, and a project that tested new literacy resources to support reading at home with 3rd- and 4th-graders.
Nelson earned her BA in International Development from McGill University.
