Shanna Russ, research communications expert and an experienced project director, specializes in public information outreach. Her areas of expertise include information design, user experience, user-centered design, data visualization, research-practice dissemination, website management, website accessibility for people with disabilities, and product management and promotion.
Shanna leads the dissemination strategy for REL Northeast & Islands at EDC and is the communications manager for the Learning Generation Initiative at EDC. In this capacity, she designs and oversees the implementation of dissemination plans that use multiple channels to promote the use of research findings. She has extensive expertise in the design and management of online and in-person convenings, multimedia production (e.g., videos, infographics), and product development (e.g., reports, briefs, newsletters).
Previously at EDC, Shanna headed up strategic communications and product management for several initiatives focused on educational improvement and innovation. These include the Research + Practice Collaboratory and the Center to Advance Elementary Science through Assessment, Research, and Technology.
Shanna holds an MS in Human-Centered Computing from the University of Maryland and a BA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College. She received her PMD Pro Certification as a project manager from APMG International.
