EDC to Lead Sessions at Massachusetts STEM Summit 2016

For the sixth year, EDC is a sponsor of the Massachusetts STEM Summit, to be held November 1 at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. EDC staff will share expertise on topics such as teacher preparation in science and engineering and mathematics games for preschoolers.

The summit convenes educators, business leaders, policymakers, parents, students, and others to share successful programs and activities through presentations, exhibits, and networking. The theme of this year’s summit is “Building a Lifetime of Opportunity.”

• 9:45 to 10:35 a.m. – Preparing to Teach STE in Elementary Schools: A Discussion for Stakeholders – Jeff Winokur
• 10:55 to 11:45 a.m. – Building Middle School Engagement in Math and Computer Science: Findings from the National Science Foundation (NSF) ITEST Program – Bernadette Sibuma
• 1:45 to 2:35 p.m. – Games for Young Mathematicians: Mathematics Learning and Persistence in Preschool – Paul Goldenberg, Kristen Reed, and Jessica Young
• 1:45 to 2:35 p.m. – EDC, TERC, and the UMass Donahue Institute Lead STEM Program Evaluation: Focused Roundtable Discussions – Leslie Goodyear, Jackie DeLisi, and Abigail Jurist Levy
