Cynthia King Vance, senior executive and board leader, has extensive expertise in education, health care, and media. She has led innovation and strategy within complex organizations and is passionate about developing people and teams to achieve results.
Cynthia has led projects to improve urban public education and student success for the New York City Department of Education, the Newark (NJ) Public Schools, Hunter College, and the City University of New York. She created and teaches the Entrepreneurship course at Hunter College and is an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Harvard Innovation Labs and for CUNY Startups.
In 2022, Cynthia served as the interim CEO for New York Public Radio (NYPR), the largest public radio organization in the country. Cynthia’s media experience includes serving as the CFO and business development head of the UK Gold Broadcasting television channels and as a Board Member and Chair (2013-2017) of New York Public Radio.
Cynthia has served in leadership positions on nonprofit boards, including the NYPR Board of Trustees, Read to Lead, Montefiore Health System, and SCO. She was a non-executive director at the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust in London and helped establish The Community Channel for UK voluntary organizations. Earlier in her career, Cynthia was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and an investment banking analyst with Kidder, Peabody & Co.
Cynthia holds a BA from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
