WALTHAM, MA | EDC has appointed Cindy Taylor as senior vice president for its newly established U.S. Division. Taylor brings to EDC more than two decades of experience conducting and overseeing complex research and evaluation of programs and policies affecting children and families.
In her new role, Taylor will provide leadership for EDC’s work in such fields as early learning, computer science education, and suicide prevention, and will direct a staff of 585 employees. The U.S. Division, which combines the strength and expertise of EDC’s former Learning and Teaching and Health and Human Development divisions, was launched last week at a company-wide event at EDC’s headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Taylor will also work alongside Senior Vice President Nancy Devine, who leads EDC’s International Development Division. In addition, she will serve as a member of EDC’s senior management team.
“After an intensive nationwide search, we are thrilled to welcome Cindy Taylor to EDC,” said EDC President and CEO David Offensend. “With Dr. Taylor’s leadership, content knowledge, and management skills, we can be confident that our new U.S. Division will increase EDC’s impact by fostering greater integration and collaboration among our project teams. It’s an exciting time to be at EDC."
Taylor comes to EDC from a 20-year tenure at Abt Associates where she oversaw strategic planning, business development, and project execution for research and evaluation related to income security, food security, welfare, workforce, and family/child development. She also led efforts to target research and evaluation opportunities, identify emerging trends in the market, form new partnerships with other research organizations, and develop successful client relationships.
“I’m so pleased to be joining EDC, with its reputation for creating innovative programs and working in tandem with practitioners to put research into practice,” said Taylor. “EDC employees have a deep respect for and pride in their mission to transform lives through learning, and I feel privileged to be here.”
Taylor holds a BA in psychology from Denison University and a PhD in human development and family studies from the Pennsylvania State University. She will be based in EDC’s Waltham headquarters.
